Forum Post: Formula descriptions "corrupted"?

PFW 5.9 Server went down. When we got it back up all appeared to be normal except for one thing. In "Item entry" on the 3rd tab where it displays the formula for that particular Finished Good, the formula does not appear.  This effects about 30 or so finished goods.  The first 100 or so and the last 100 or so FG's are fine.  It is a range in the middle that appear to be corrupted. I can get the formula to show but when it does, the description appears to be corrupted as it shows "strange" characters. Everything else appears normal.  I can access the formulas and they appear normal along with their description.  I can create batches and the formulas work. Suggestions? Thanks

Hello, I recently installed Sage 8.1 on my Windows 8.1 PC. I can't open my "E-Z order" tab and was wondering if anyone had come across this issue. I get a Microsoft '429' error that has to do with Active X. Any and all help is greatly appriciated, John

Since you are seeing corruption in your data files I would suggest to restore a backup of your entire company prior to your server crash.

Sage PFW has never been tested or supported on any version of Windows 8.

Hmmm... that's it huh?  Restore EVERYTHING and they go through the process of re-entering several days worth of info?

That would be the suggestion since we aren't sure what other files may have become damaged.

From our investigation and checking on all other modules this appears to be the only thing affected.  I did a restore of the infspec file and we also did a recover to no avail. Of course restoring everything previous to the server issue would fix things but that would obviously require many hours of re-entering information. Any ideas why the description field would appear to be corrupted on a range of formulas and not all of them?  When accessing the table in Access everything looks OK. Thanks

We cannot state why one specific file may be damaged when a server crashes but our recommendation would be to restore prior to this occurance.

Understandable.. Thanks. But shouldn't I be able to go into a particular file and "see" the corruption?

Normally I would have suggested to open a Support ticket since this is not something we can comment on without reviewing the data.

I've found the fix myself. I went into the Formula module and re-enterd the formula description and then saved the formula with the "new" description.  This apparently overwrote the "corrupted" field and things are now back to normal.

Forum Post: Physical Property Equation Listing

I'm trying to figure out what some of the equations in our system, and I'm having a hard time figuring some of them out. I understand that TW means Total Weight and TV means Total Volume, but what does T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, or T7 mean? From what I can tell, they are a calculation of some sort, but I can't figure out what exactly is being calculated. Is there some place where I can find out what those mean?

Where would a customer get their serial and activation codes for FRx6.7?

Microsoft announced the end of life for FRx several years ago and we no longer store any past serial numbers or activation keys in our current database. Our recommendation is to use the Sage Intelligence module that was introduced with the release of PFW v5.9.

You can find information from the F1 Help option within this listing. This does refer you to the Laboratory File Maintenance settings for the Physical Property Formulas.
